The Hydro Norsk trade fair stand at Aluminium Düsseldorf was designed to be as sustainable as possible. This also applied to the delicious Scandinavian dishes served to the guests.
But what does “more sustainable trade fair catering” actually mean?
Katrin Oberließ, responsible for strategic sustainability development at Melles & Stein, explains it like this:
“At Melles & Stein, we work with small to medium-sized family businesses from the region. This reduces travel distances and supports the local economy. We also focus on seasonal, regional products, lots of vegetables and little meat - organic whenever possible. After the trade fair, we prepare a very detailed CO2 balance sheet for all food and drinks on request. Our customers can then incorporate this information directly into their sustainability report. Hydro also receives a report from us and can then see exactly how high the CO2 emissions of the cinnamon buns, salmon sandwiches or sweet potato taler with cream cheese were.”
Incidentally, our overall focus on sustainability was an important reason why we were awarded the contract to work with Hydro. In their newsletter before the aluminum, Hydro announced us with the following words:
“In Melles & Stein, we have found a partner who is just as committed to sustainable business as we are.”
