Social Involvement
Accepting Responsibility
Part of melles & stein’s philosophy is its social involvement. We make donations and grants to support two initiatives in particular – started by two of our supervisory board members:
Freundeskreis Kambodscha e.V.
Founded by our former Supervisory Board Chairman Helmuth Kircher, this organization provides the poorest of the poor in Cambodia with access to clean drinking water through the construction of wells and is committed to the education of children.

Haven Cambodia
is a training restaurant for disadvantaged young adults. In addition to vocational training as a chef or waiter, they find a safe haven here for the duration of their training and are prepared for their professional future through internships in partner hotels.
Du-Ich-Wir Erkrath e.V.
is a non-profit association and recognized sponsor of independent youth welfare, which has set itself the task of offering children and young people access to the best possible education.
Erkrath Community
The Erkrath Youth Foundation, founded by our former Supervisory Board member Knut Stein, has been merged into this foundation. We continue to support the local foundation, particularly with projects for Erkrath's young people.

DKMS
All of our employees are registered in the DKMS German Bone Marrow Donor Registry in order to fight leukemia together. melles & stein covers the costs of typing.
Food bank
We are supporters of the food bank and not only regularly donate food from our warehouse, but also organize for our trade fair customers to collect surplus food directly on site at the end of the trade fair.
